CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GREAT BOBBY RUSH

Bobby Rush was honored September 20th in Greenville Mississippi with a street named in his honor.  Bobby told “BluesTime in the City” that the honor is a thrill to him and he appreciates his fans showering him with so much Love.  Bobby, in his early 90’s, says “you’re never too old to be honored.”  He also told BluesTime in The City that “he was thinking about adding a toll booth to his street so some people would have to pay.”
Congratulations to the legendary Bobby Rush, and if you’re in Greenville Mississippi, take a drive down Bobby Rush Street.

Well, It’s happening….By year’s end, the amazing, the great Frankie Beverly is retiring….The great Frankie Beverly….Frankie is in his late 70’s and he says he going to hang it up after 50 plus years…. The tour is call the “I Wanna Thank You Farewell Tour” and kicks off on March 22 in Atlanta and wraps in May in LA.  Frankie has been serenading people since 1970.   Everybody Loves Frankie Beverly and Maze or Maze featuring Frankie Beverly.  This is the good news….When the tour ends, he will go to his hometown of Philadelphia where a street will be named in his honor.  That is Cool…Even though Frankie will retire, the lead singing torch will be passed on to Tony Lindsay, and this is really huge….The band will be called Maze, honoring Frankie Beverly.  You talking about a honor, that is truly a honor.  Frankie has been on the bill with many Southern Soul Singers or they’ve been on the bill with him.  One really bad thing about Frankie Beverly and Maze’s career thus far, with all of that great music they have done, did you know that he’s never won a Grammy….As far as my research has found, and I could have missed this, I didn’t see where they were even nominated for a Grammy….That’s horrible….Shame on the Grammy people.  Before we go….I just want to say Thank You Frankie Beverly…..50 plus years in the business…..We’ll be hearing those hits for decades to come…
