Yazoo City is located a few miles north of Jackson on Highway 49…..For more information on the Yazoo City Music Festival, we have a link to their web site on the BluesNews page at BluesTimeinthecity.com……… Free is a good price…..

We’ve talked about the Mississippi Blues Trail, those markers that you can see all over the State of Mississippi honoring their blues singers….They also have a Country Music Trail, A Civil Rights Trail, and an Indian Mound Trail.  Well, the state is now adding a Mississippi Writers Trail to the mix.  The inaugural honor for their first writer a few weeks ago went to Eudora Welty, a writer of novels.  The Marker was unveiled in Jackson Mississippi….Ms Welty made the transition in 2001 at the age of 92, but her family and a host of dignitaries were on hand for the honor…I think that is a great concept by the state to honor the people, those that are still here and have gone on, that meant so much to the communities of the state of Mississippi….
