THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUE FOR THE WEEKEND OF SEPTEMBER 16-17, 2017 September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and Buddy Guy serves as the national spokesman.  It is projected that 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with Prostate Cancer, and the Blues heavyweights are letting you know that you need to talk to your doctor, your family, and anyone about prostate cancer.  There are two shows that are being held to aid in funding of Prostate cancer, and an autographed polka dot guitar will be given to a lucky person with Buddy Guy’s signature.  One of the events have already been held, Sept 10th, and the other one will be held Monday Sept 18th…. This is cool.  Sons and Daughters of some of these legends will be on hand to Jam and disseminate information of Prostate Cancer….All of whom have been touched by Prostate cancer in one way or another…The lineup include Carlise Guy, daughter of Buddy Guy, Shirley King, Daughter of BB King…Demetria Taylor, daughter of Eddie Taylor, Kenny Kinsey, son of Bid Daddy Kinsey, Freddie Dixon, son of Willie Dixon, Rose Reed, daughter of Jimmy and many others.  And on top of all of that, They have  music called Blues4Prostate Cancer.  The Music titles include Steal Away by Raful Neal, I Got What it Takes by KoKo Taylor, Don’t Take Advantage of Me By Lonnie Brooks, This is The End by Buddy Guy, and many others….We have a link to it on the BluesNews Page at BluesTime In The City.com…. http://bg.buddyguy.com/see-the-blues-tour-4-prostate-cancer-september-10th-and-18th/ BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COMBLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COMBLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COMBLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM There’s an article in the latest issue of Living Blues Magazine titled Clarksdale’s Next Generation of Blues…It’s all about how they teach the Blues to the youth in Clarksdale Mississippi, and the fruits of their labor that they are seeing now.  I’m sure there are many programs like this, but this one started decades ago, and there are three of their graduates highlighted.  Christone Kingfish Ingram…Anthony Big A Sherrod and Lee Williams.  Young people in their teens that’s keeping the blues alive.  I’ve personally met Kingfish and have seen him perform.  He is good.  Cudos to the program and the articles are worth the read…..They are in the latest issue of Living Blues Magazine….
