THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 7-8, 2017   A sad note here from American Blues Scene Web Site…  Delta Bluesman Ellis Cedell Davis has made the transition at the right old age of 90.  He passed away ept 28th… Mr. Davis was a harmonica and guitar player and had a very unique style of playing, using a knife as a slide.  Mr. Davis suffered from polio as a kid which lead to his style of playing.  He played with Robert Nighthawk.  In 1957, a raid on a night club by police lead to both his legs being broken as he was trampled, which lead to him to use a wheelchair….The guy went through a lot, but he still played them Delta Blues…  The King Biscuit Blues Festival will definitely honor Mr. Davis which ironically is wrapping up this weekend on the 7th….Among his album releases are Feel Like Doin Something Wrong, Even The Devil Gets The Blues, When Lightning Struck The Pine, and The Best of CeDell Davis.  There is a celebration for him this weekend the 8th in Little Rock Arkansas where musicians that played and knew him for many years will Jam in his Memory……Our condolences go out to his family….
