The Grammy Salute to Music Legends for 2017 aired on PBS Friday night in certain markets, and the Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees were Jimmie Rodgers, the country singer Jimmie Rodgers, Shirley Caesar, Ahmad Jamal, Charley Pride Sly Stone and Velvet Underground.  Among the performers were Charlie Wilson, Dionne Warwick, Valerie Simpson, Vernon Reid, Dwight Yoakam, and a special appearance by Whoopi Goldberg who accepted the award for the late Nina Simone.  This will be shown multiple times on PBS, and if you missed it Friday Night, you will get a chance to see it on your local PBS Station.  Check the listings…..

This weekend the 15th, the Chicago Blues Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is taking place at Buddy Guy’s Legend’s in Chicago.  Blues artists being inducted include Eddie C. Campbell, Big Llou Johnson, Benny Turner, Zora Young, Shirley Johnson, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials, Maurice John Vaughn, Pervis Spann, Radio Station WVON, Big James Montgomery, Ralph and Kenny Kinsey and many many more.  Are there any other Blues artists left in Chicago??  The host Band is Mike Wheeler Band and this is a huge Jam every year in Chicago recognizing some of the great blues artists there….It happens this weekend, the 15th…..Congratulations to all of the inductees….

And last but not least, we mentioned Benny Turner, the brother of Freddie King and the Arthur of the just released book, Blues Survivor, Benny Turner is on the cover of the latest edition of Living Blues Magazine, and a great article by Melanie Young accompanies the cover.  Benny was a long time blues man behind the scenes playing with some of the greats in blues including big brother Freddie King, but no more.  He’s getting his just due now as the front man, with his own band playing behind him….Do your thang Bennie Turner…..And the book is a really good read…..And for the Nashville listeners, also in this month’s edition of Living Blues Magazine, Tim Ghianni did a profile of Nashville Singer Charles Wigg Walker…who was a huge part of the Nashville Blues scene in the 60’s and 70’s…..Wigg is still performing in and around Nashville and Charles is one of the few remaining original soul singers from back in the day.  When the man performs, he is clean….I mean clean….Check Wigg Walker out in Living Blues Magazine…….Oh…One more thing….Why do they call him Wigg Walker….We have a link on the BluesNews Page at, and it’s all right there….
