It is time for the BluesNews from the world of the BluesBlues for the weekend of November 24-25, the last weekend of November…

We’ve been telling you about the upcoming Blues Foundation’s 35th International Blues Challenge coming up in January, where they have over 300 bands competing for the honor of Best Blues Band in the World…Also during that week, they will have the KBA Awards.  The Keeping The Blues Alive Awards presentations.  The Recipients have been announced and Eleven individuals and organizations will be honored on January 25th in downtown Memphis for their hard work in Keeping the Blues Alive.  Recognized are blues societies, clubs, festivals, record labels, disc jockeys, photographers, people and organizations that work hard year round in securing the past and future of the Blues.  A few of the organizations being honored in January are the Atlanta Blues Society out of Atlanta Georgia, Blues Alive Festival in the Czech Republic, Capitol Oyster Bar in Montgomery Alabama and Don “Don O” Ottensman, a Blues DJ at KNON in Dallas Texas.  Those are just a few of the People and organizations being honor in January with the Keeping The Blues Alive Award.  If you want to know all Eleven, we have a link on the BluesNews page at BluesTimeinthecity.com…Congratulations to all of them….

And Speaking of the Keeping The Blues Alive Awards, this is a small part of the big 5 day week of the International Blues Challenge.  We caught up with the president and CEO of the Blues Foundation in Memphis and she put the week of January 22nd through the 26th in perspective for us….
