THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 18-19, 2017   Joni Sledge has made the transition….One of the sisters of famous Sister Sledge made the transition on Friday last, March 10th….Joni and her sisters Debbie, Kathy, Kim and Norma became mega stars with their big hit of 1979, “We are Family.”  That song captured the hearts of the country, and went on to become the anthem for the Pittsburgh Pirates…. Other hits included He’s The Greatest Dancer and My Guy…Our condolences go out to the Sledge Family…..Joni Sledge was 60 years old…. BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITY BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITY BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIME In the first hour of the program, we played Taj Mahal and Keb Mo from a new release coming out on May 5th.  The name of the BCD is “TajMo.” This will be the first time that these two giants of the blues have joined forces.  They have known each other for many years, but never did anything like this together.  The BCD was produced by Taj and Keb, and contains a few covers, but who cares.  They do have 6 originals.  In an article on American Blues, Taj Mahal says of Keb Mo, “He’s Really good at keeping the ball up in the air.”  Keb says of Taj, “He’s a stellar human being, just a brilliant man.”  Again, the BCD will be released on May 5th and it’s on Concord Records. Burnside, and he talks about keeping the sounds of the Mississippi Hill Country Blues alive.  It’s written by Margo Cooper, and it’s a fine piece of work.  I learned a lot from that article…Great Read…… BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITY BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITY BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIME WHERE THEY AT WHERE THEY AT:
