THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF MARCH 11-12, 2017 From The American Blues Scene Magazine site, John Lee Hooker was born on August 22 of 1917, and to celebrate his 100th year, Vee Jay Records will release Whiskey and Wimmen…John Lee Hooker’s Finest… That will be released on March 31st…The BCD will feature songs from his days with Vee Jay, Riverside and Stax Records Records. John Lee Hooker was a huge influence on the Boogie Blues and on British Rockers from in the 60’s, especially groups like The Rolling Stones, and artists like Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, and even Carlos Santana….Remember The Healer??  Whiskey and Wimmen should be a great piece of work to own, and I’m Looking forward to it….. I had the opportunity to talk with John Lee way back in the day I asked him why did he leave the great state of Mississippi…This is what he said… John Lee Well, he became a star and much more….Hooker’s Boogie was a huge impact back then, and it’s still a huge influence today…..March 31st is the release day for John Lee Hookers’ Whiskey and Wimmen…. The Chicago Blues Festival will be held June 9th through the 11th…Headliners include Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues with special guest, I told you we would find this guy….with special guest James Cotton… Also William Bell, Gary Clark Jr, Ronnie Baker Brooks and many others.  This is the first year it will be held in a new location, Millennium Park.  It was held for many years at Grant Park…..Millennium Park is on the corner of Michigan Avenue and Columbus Avenue, not far from Grant Park.  This is the biggest blues festival in the entire world, and people from all over the world comes to this festival.  The great thing about this festival is that it is free to attend.  For more information on line ups, we have a link to the festival on the BluesNews Page at BluesTime in the WHERE THEY AT WHERE THEY AT:
