THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES
FOR THE WEEKEND OF JUNE 9-10, 2018

Congratulations to Tori Nicole Regina Bailey, the voice you hear often on BluesTime In The City.  She recently graduated from high school, and we asked her how does it feel to be a high school graduate…
(Tori Interview)

Tori mentioned where some of her classmates were going to college…..There were about 20 high school graduates at this cook out….I talked with the majority of them and every one of them were planning on going to college this summer or in the fall.  The schools ranged from Kennesaw State to Georgia State as Tori mentioned, to Morehouse, Michigan State, Arizona State, Albany State and Hampton University, and that’s not all of them.  If you are a parent or a grand parent like I am, you should be very proud of your graduate, and don’t believe the hype.  Our kids are going to be some great and responsible adults….Thanks again Tori……

And we have some Sad News to report….Legendary Bluesman Eddy The Chief Clearwater made the transition on Friday June 1st.  He was 83 years of age.  His real name was Edward Harrington and was born January 10, 1935 in Macon Mississippi.  He was internationally known and was best known for his flamboyant showmanship and style.  He would often come on stage in full Indian regalia. He was awarded the 2015 Jus Blues Foundation’s Little Milton LifeTime Bluesman Award…..He was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2016.  He taught himself to play the guitar at an early age, which he plays left handed and upside down.  His albums included The Chief, Rock N Roll City, which was nominated for a Grammy, West Side Strut, and his latest Soul Funky in 2014.  Throughout his career, he released 15 Albums.  Our condolences go out to the Family of Eddy The Chief Clearwater.
