THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES
FOR THE WEEKEND OF JULY 6-7, 2019

There is a Blues Festival taking place next month on August 24th in Trinidad.  It’s called the Trinidadio Blues Festival.  The headliner is Sugaray Rayford, along with Houston’s Keeshea Pratt Blues Band, which won First Place at the 34th International Blues Challenge in Memphis.  Did I mention that this is in Trinidad Colorado???  Well it is, and it got me to thinking, with the legalization of marijuana there, will this be a wild party or what.  That sounds too easy so I did some research and in Colorado, you can’t do your joint thing in public so doing your thing at the outside Blues Festival might get you in trouble.  But I do like the name which caught my attention.  Trinidadio Blues Festival.

There is a Book out entitled The Summer of The Terraplane Blues by Gregory Yawman.  Greg is a writer and retired lawyer and a fan of the Blues.  His book goes into the death of Robert Johnson.  He based his writing on facts researched, and published works by other will known biographers of Robert Johnson.  Some of the  characters in the book are also fictional, since there are so many reasons and ways that Robert Johnson died.  Some believed he was poisoned, some believed it was a jealous husband or boyfriend, and a plantation owner was even uncovered and the plantation owner said, The Negro died of syphilis.  Very interesting readings by Gregory Yawman.  The Book is out now in paperbook and ebook……I think it was the jealous husband because Robert Johnson was a ladies man…..
