There’s an article in the St Louis Post-Dispatch titled “Young Blues Singer Kingfish says he’ll help keep the genre going.”  It by Kevin C. Johnson and it’s a great article on 20 year old Blues Phenom Christone Kingfish Ingram.  Rolling Stone magazine calls him the future of the Blues, but the Clarksville Mississippi native says he’s only tries to live up to the ground put before him…..Just try to keep it going.  He also says “Blues is life, and everyone goes through something.”  I met the young man a couple of years ago, and I must say, he’s very grounded.  The Kingfish has made appearances on The Steve Harvey Show, Luke Cage, and The Rachel Ray Show.  He’s caught the attention of Buddy Guy, funk legend Bootsy Collins, and even rapper The Game.  There is a picture of Kingfish in the article of him standing in front of an old rusted out beat up Chevy truck.  Kind of reminds me of how my daddy’s truck use to look.  Great article by Kevin C. Johnson in the St Louis Post-Dispatch….If you would like to read the article, we have a link to it on the BluesNews Page at…..

Next week, beginning Wednesday, the 31st, the activities will begin for the Jus Blues Music Awards in Tunica Mississippi.  The Kingfish did receive the Albert King Lucy Award  a couple of years ago…. Thursday, August 1st, these artists and Blues Personnel will be honored for their services to the Blues….. Irma Thomas, Trudy Lynn, Lil Ray Neal, Don Bryant, Gaye Adegbalola, Y.Z. Ealey, E. C. Scott, Senator Willie Simmons, Mickey Rogers, Stevie J Blues, O.B. Buchana, Sweet Angel and Little Freddie King.  Of course, there will be tech conferences, History conferences, and much much more.  Memphis’s own Bobby O’Jay and Bev Johnson will be the Hosts for the Thursday Night affair, it’s amazing to see some of the artists get these awards, and some of the names of the awards are sitting there in the audience..Of course there will be much more like the White Linen Party, and the Juke Joint Fish Fry.  This is the opportunity where you can get up close and personal with the artists, and pictures??? Many pictures.  And performances….Many many performances….For more Information, we have a link on the BluesNews page at….
