This weekend January 20th marks the 37th anniversary that B.B. King made a huge donation to The University of Mississippi Study For Culture Blues Archives.  January 20th 1982, B.B. donated over 8000 alblums from his personal collection to The University…. The donation included more than 60,000 total recordings, 20,000 photographs and 1,000 videos and they now make a home in the J.D. Williams Library. The archives is one of the largest public collections of blues memorabilia in the entire world.  In an article in the University Mississippi News, it says because of B.B.’s eagerness to always learn, there were foreign language books and albums that he studied so he could use common phrases when he played to foreign audience, a pilot book, he was a trained pilot, and many albums by other blues artists….In 2004, the University bestowed on B.B. the title of Honorary Professor of Southern Studies. This has got to be a sight to see if you’re a fan of the Blues….This weekend January 20th marks the 37th anniversary of the beginning of that huge donation.
