THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF FEBRUARY 4-5, 2017 THE SUPER BOWL WEEKEND Do you want to learn how to play Blues Harmonica, Chicago Style?  There are two Camps in Chicago in June that will teach you the authentic Chicago Blues Harmonica Style.  That’s around the Chicago Blues Festival Time which is June 9th through the 11th…And I might note here, that the Chicago Blues Festival moved from Grant Park to Millennium Park, which is close by…….Instructors for the Harmonica Camps include Billy Branch, Donald Kinsey, Jimmy Burns, Harlan Terson, Lurrie Bell, Eddie Taylor Jr, John Primer and many other Chicago blues greats.  Great opportunity if you want to learn the real Chicago Blues Harmonica Style.  We have a link to their registration page on the Blues News Page at Bluestimeinthecity.com…… http://www.chicagobluescamp.com/blues-masters The Blues Foundation just wrapped up their big International Blues Challenge on Thursday, and it’s so man winners that they are too numerous to announce here.  We do have a link on the BluesNews Page that will take you right to the winners.  The next big thing is happening May 11th…That’s when the Blues Music Awards will be held in Memphis…We have a link to the nominees also on the BluesNews Page at BluesTimeinthecity.com… Big doings for the Blues Foundation…If you want to receive a ballot and fote for one of your favorite artists, you have until February 28th to take care of business with the Blues Foundation…. www.blues.org And I just saw this, and this happened a couple of months ago.…Chess Records founder Phil Chess made the transition at the right old age of 95.  Phil and his brother Leonard Chess started Chess records in 1950…They recorded Muddy Waters, Etta James, Howlin Wolf, Buddy Guy, Willie Dixon and many of the great Blues artists in the early 50’s.  The music was called race music and they made it popular all over the world.  Years ago, I did a documentary on the Chess Brothers, and that is an interesting story.  His brother Leonard made the transition in 1969… WHERE THEY AT WHERE THEY AT:
