THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF FEBRUARY 25-26, 2017 The Grammys were held two weeks ago, and all the buzz was what and how many awards Adele Won.  But who walked away the big winner.  Someone you never probably thought of.  77 year old William Bell, who won the Best Americana Award for his first solo album in 40 years “This is Where I Live,” won big.  According to Spotify, the music streaming service reported that the streams for Bell’s song Born Under A Bad Sign jumped 4,950 percent.  His total Spotify streams as an artist rose 680 percent after he won the award.  On Pandora, he saw an increase of 12, 085 percent lift in stations added.  William Bell hit it big.  As a comparison, according to Spotify, Morris Day of the Tyme who performed with Bruno Mars in the tribute to Prince streams rose a measly 344 percent and Chance The Rapper, 206 percent… Congratulations to William Bell….The 77 year old is riding high on the streams…… There is a film they are trying to release called Sidemen…Long Road to Glory about the roles that sidemen PineTop Perkins, Huber t Sumlin, and Willie Big Eyes Smith played in their careers.  PineTop and Willie Big Eyes played with Muddy Waters, and Hubert played with Howlin Wolf…The film is complete and it premiered at the 2016 South By South West Film Festival.  But, they are trying to clear the rights to allow the production to be released worldwide.  They have set up a kickstarter campaign to hopefully make this happen…If you want more information on this project, or want to see a clip, there is a link on the BlueNews Page at BluesTime in the City.com…Very interesting project….. http://www.sidemenfilm.com/ WHERE THEY AT WHERE THEY AT:
