THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF FEBRUARY 11-12, 2017 A couple of additions has been added to the televised version of the Grammy Awards for Sunday Night….The one and only Grammy Nominee William Bell has been added along with Grammy winner Gary Clark Jr….They usually find a way of including these types of artists, but not in the window of the televised version.  William is nominated for his song The Three of Me in the Best Traditional R&B Performance category and Best Americana Album (This Is Where I Live).  Don’t know what Best Americana is….Somebody will inform me….The telecast is Sunday Night at 8 pm on CBS…. Last week we told you about an article on The American Blues Scene Magazine sight on ten things you didn’t know about Sam Cooke…It was written by JD Nash….Well, JD has up now, Ten Things you didn’t know about the Langster of Love, Johnny Guitar Watson.  This is good…Johnny’s grandfather was a preacher and played guitar.  He promised young Johnny that he would give him a guitar as long as he didn’t play “the devil’s music.” He got the guitar and before he was 15, he was playing with Albert Collins and Johnny Copeland. I bet his grand daddy was mad…..And this is interesting…Johnny saw a western movie by the name of Johnny Guitar about a reformed a reformed gunslinger….He took the name and it stayed with him forever…..Dude had a heck of a career….  Great article by JD Nash….Ten things you didn’t know about Johnny Guitar Watson, the Gangster of Love…..We have a link to the article on the BluesNews Page at bluestimeinthecity.com https://www.americanbluesscene.com/2017/02/10-things-didnt-know-johnny-guitar-watson/ WHERE THEY AT WHERE THEY AT:
