THE BLUES NEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF APRIL 15-16, 2017 We lost another great one….Blues Legend Lonnie Brooks made the transition on April 1st…at the age of 83….Lonnie was one of those great guitar players that would walk on tables, jump on bars, all while playing some of the most hard edged blues guitar you ever heard….I had the opportunity to have a sit down conversation with Lonnie years ago, and he gave me his thoughts on how he’s seen the blues change….. (Lonnie Brooks Audio) And speaking of the younger people, Lonnie’s sons played with him….Wayne Baker Brooks and Ronnie Baker Brooks…Our condolences go out to the Lonnie Brooks family… BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITY BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITY BLUESTIMEINTHECITYBLUESTIMEINTHECITY Lonnie Played at a lot of these….The Chicago Blues Festival is June (9th -11th , …and the week before and the week after the festival, there will be a Blues Camp in Chicago with some of the best Blues musicians working and teaching you, if you’re interested the art of playing the Blues.  The one week camp will teach blues guitar, blues bass, blues harp, and classic blues songs.  Some of the instructors and artists will include Jimmy Burns, Billy Branch, Paul Kaye, Billy Flynn, Chainsaw Dupont, Charlie Love, Lurrie Bell, Eddie Taylor Jr, John Primer and many more.  The camp takes place June 5-9 for the first one, and June 12-16 for the second one….
