THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES FOR THE WEEKEND OF JULY 15-16, 2017 The featured article in this month’s edition of BluesBlast Magazine is on the birthday girl, Denise LaSalle and is titled Denise LaSalle: Soul and Blues Legend.  She graces cover and it goes into her days as a Soul Star and switching over to the Blues in 82.  One very interesting part of that interview, she gave a young writer and performer a name that this particular person used for the rest of his life.  His original name was Lee Baker, and he passed away a few weeks ago.  Want to find out what she named him, we have a link to the article at BluesTimeInTheCity.com..She goes into her journey in the music world, and it was not all smooth sailing for her.  Great Article by Bill Dahl on The Queen, Denise LaSalle…. http://www.bluesblastmagazine.com/featured-interview-denise-lasalle/ BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM A few months ago, we talked about the re-opening of the Paradise Club in Memphis Tennessee.  This was a club where all the black entertainers, a who’s who back in the day would perform in Memphis.  It was closed for some years, and a few months back we reported on the Re-opening of the Paradise Club as the Paradise Entertainment Center.  Saturday, August 5th, the Jus Blues Music Conference will wrap their event up at the Paradise Entertainment Center with a performance by the one and only Millie Jackson.  There will be many others performing on the stage that particular night because they are paying tributes to JT, BB, Bobby, KoKo, Albert, Aretha, Milton, and many more.  The Temprees and Chick Rodgers are the special guests, and it’s hosted by Bev Johnson.  They will also pay homage to a place that brought some of the best Black entertainment in the world to be displayed…This is really going to be great.  It’s all a part of the Jus Blues Music Awards from August 3rd through the 5th.  We have a link to the JusBlues web site at BluesTimeInTheCity.com www.Jusblues.org BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM BLUESTIMEINTHECITY.COM And a Sad Note of Sorts….The Blues Brothers’ Elwood Blues has hosted the BluesMobile radio since 1993.  Throughout the years, the show which began as the House of Blues Radio Hour, played the new blues, old blues, black blues, white blues and all in between and was on radio stations across the globe.  Their final broadcast will be July 30th.  They are saying goodbye.  And I want to say thanks to Elwood Blues, or Dan Aykroyd , and all the fine radio programming they have done since 1993…How many years is that……24 years…..
