THE BLUESNEWS FROM THE WORLD OF THE BLUESBLUES
FOR THE WEEKEND OF DECEMBER 1-2, 2018

I have been a fan of this group since the 60’s and they are still doing it.  The Rolling Stones have just announced their “No filter US Tour” for 2019.  Now, you may say “So What.”  Let me remind you that
Mick Jagger is 70, Keith Richards is 70, Charlie Watts is 72, and Ronnie Wood is 66. They will play 13 Stadiums kicking the tour off in Miami Florida on Aril 20, 2019 and wrapping it up on June 21, in Chicago.  In between they will hit Jacksonville, Houston, Glendale, Washington, Seattle, Philly, and a few others.  If you really read the history of these guys, you will find out how much of a supporter they are for the Old Blues Dudes, and how they were instrumental in making sure certain things, like getting paid the right amount, this group were.  Of course, there are many reports of other activities out there, but dig just a little, and you will find what really happened.  Like the story in Philadelphia when they refused to perform until the promoters paid the opening act, John Lee Hooker, the amount of money they thought he deserved.  If you want to see the tour schedule, there is a link to the American Blues Scene article on the BluesNews page at BluesTimeinthecity.com.

I have known about this since they started it, but I have found that a lot of Blues Fans do not know about this.  There is a blues comic strip that launched in 2003 by the name of Buddy and Hopkins.  It’s done by a guy named Jason Nocera and you can get on FaceBook, and on their web site.  It’s pretty much the real life sagas of Blues Artists on and off the road.  A strip comes out every month, and they are really cool.  If you want to see one, or visit their web site, we have a strip and the web link on the BluesNews Page at Bluestimeinthecity.com…

And we will remind you once again that the 34th 2019 International Blues Challenge will be held January 22nd through the 26th.  More than 250 Bands will invade Memphis Tennessee for five days of rocking rockus  blues and enjoyment.  There will be plenty to see and do, and Beale Street and local venues will be filled to the brim with fans from all over the world.  The Blues Foundation reminds you to make your reservations and come ready.  It’s going to be a blast. Other Activities include Blues Jams, Show cases, Health Fair and Health Screenings, Photography Exhibits, a roundtable discussion with the president of the blues Foundation, Barbara Newman, Book Signings, Blues Yoga Classes, Blues Networking Speed Dating for Musicians, How to Find Money Workshops and much more.  We have a link to the Blues Foundations’ activity page on the BluesNews Page at BluesTimeinthecity.com….
